With seniors or older adults, group travel can be in the form of an extended family or friends and family groups, church groups, clubs, alumni groups, special interest groups and so on. The advantages of group travel, especially on cruise ships are numerous.
An organizer can earn a free cruise based on 8 to 16 persons depending on the cruise line plus there may be additional group amenities and lower group rates.
While there are both cruise and tour groups, cruise groups seem to provide the most satisfaction where people can enjoy each other as a group or enjoy some activity by them selves.
One group area that has become especially popular is extended family cruise vacations or family reunions. Call us at 800.446.4938 for more information.
Tips about Group Travel:
- With any group, begin your planning early especially with friends and family groups. Starting early may give you a better rate, cabin selection and time to achieve your required group size.
- Ideally the group organizer would have 4 or 5 couples that they know would go with them on the cruise or tour.
There are hotel barges in Europe and a small ship company doing Alaska, Baja, Columbia River cruise and a Hawaii cruise, which are frequently chartered for small groups or family reunion groups.
Remember, any geographical tour area can usually be customized for your group based on 10 to 15 persons.
If your group is a club, senior group, or church group, it’s possible to use cruises for your group for a fund-raiser for your organization.
Some times it works best to have two organizers if you’re working with a large group. It is also important for the group organizer or organizers to pick a destination that they are enthusiastic about and that they have many friends that would share that enthusiasm.
Let us provide you with free flyers or brochures which we can e-mail or mail to prospective group members.
